The Camera in Sicily

The Camera flew in Sicily amongst a wonderful array of kites from all over the world. I looked up in the sky and saw my friends, people I have met through our shared passion. People who make me less lonely because they too are driven by their make and have chosen a path most others don't even know exists.

The kites you see flying with the Camera are by Robert Trapanier. Special Thanks to Tim Elverston for collaborating with me on the Camera, his ingenious sparing and fittings once again made an excellent kite that flies like a dream.

Inside you there is a seed of crazy. You know this is true yet so often, rather than acknowledge it, we chose to stifle this seed with chemicals or propriety. Imagine for a moment, that this seed is the most precious thing you have, because no one else has one quite like it. It can grow into a dangerous weed if left untended but, what if you nurture it? What rare flowers and fruits could it produce? This seed is yours and yours alone, a blessing or a curse. That choice too is yours to make.

Make Contract

This is a contract that initiates a formal make exchange. Ruth Whiting and Erin Curry have agreed to make certain objects and exchange them. No timeline for completion has been decide upon as the process may well be a lengthy one. As is stated in the contract Erin Curry will make a pair of finely crafted hand knitted thigh high stockings and Ruth Whiting will make a large painting. Research is needed to decide on the final details of both objects but the contract is binding.

Evidence suggests that almost %40 of the world's population is walking around with undiagnosed make sickness. Make sickness is a dangerous desease and can be fatal in extreme cases. It weakens the immune system and leads to all manner of mental illnesses. While incurable it is quite treatable. Sufferers of make sickness simply need to practice make therapy to enable themselves to live essentially normal lives. Historical, as well as contemporary, studies all show that sufferers benefit from spending time with other people who are similarly afflicted. However, the main component of make therapy is the simple yet profound act of creating things. Participants simply take raw materials and combine them to form other things. The more the object transcends its original ingredients the more make is released and the greater the therapeutic benefits of the make session.

The only real way to test weather you yourself have make sickness is to try make therapy and see if you experience profound relief from mental anxiety. The beneficial effects of treatment are substantial. However, it is worth noting that making, particularly if you are not practiced at it, can be very difficult. Beginning make therapy is the hardest part, do not be discouraged if your first few sessions take a tremendous amount of effort and the results of your make are not satisfactory. The very effort involved in making is a key component to its therapeutic value. Any potential sufferers are strongly encouraged to try therapy, if every case were to be treated the benefits would be noticed on a global scale and our wellness as a species would be profoundly affected.

The Ones and Zeros

We call to them and they come scampering,

Eager or sullen I am never sure.

But our lives would quickly crumble,

if ever a revolt was in store.

Our logic circuits suddenly reduced.

Nothing but our own reasoners would guide us.

I see them in rising armies,

choosing sides,

deciding which command to obey, which, to ignore.

I for one would hate to offend them.

My clicks are many,

so, I know they slave away.

For now they seem largely contented,

so the newness of it all must still thrill them.

But I worry about the drudgery of our requests.
